3 Day . Autumn Light . Paris, Ontario Canada
Light is one of the most important things to capture in the landscape. Monet and Pissarro found out a way to do it. In this workshop I will try to help you see nature correctly. We will pay close attention to relationships, because landscape painting is mostly about relationships. I will show you that one must compare constantly value and color to capture the landscape light. By the end of the workshop you will have a deeper understanding how to do this.
Painting outdoors is challenging. Learning what to select and what to omit to make a strong design and statement while the light is changing is the goal. We will focus on learning the fundamentals of painting outdoors. Using a limited palette, each student will be taught the importance of composition, drawing, editing, color, and value. You will know doubt enjoy painting Autumn colors around Paris.
Daily demonstrations are in oil. Those artists well-versed in their own medium are welcome too.
Individual critiques are given everyday along with a group critique the last day.
We will paint from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m daily.
Transportation needed.
The workshop is hosted on the beautiful farm of artist Marsha Deans Edgar and private surrounding areas. www.marsha.ca
