5 Day . Plein-Air to Studio - Keeping the Spontaneity
This workshop will include both outdoor plein-air and studio. Starting out in the studio we will focus on quick small paintings to get us ready for the quick paintings outdoors. We will learn the best way to choose a subject and compose and edit our scene for the best design.
Next we are off to capture, on location, the beautiful Catalinas and the desert color. Lessons outdoors will include discussion on capturing the fleeting sun and changing values, color choices, paint application, mastering those lost and found edges and learning to simplify the subject. There will also be instructor demos and critiques to hit home a few pointers.
With several plein-air paintings to choose from we will move back into the studio where we will take one of our plein-air studies and paint a finished studio piece. We will learn to make that studio piece as fresh and spontaneous as our onsite paintings.
We will paint from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m daily.
Transportation needed.
