In this workshop Gabor and Susan will show you the most important part about landscape painting is the design. In the landscape we must eliminate things, simplify and not paint everything we see.
They will show you how to relate things to each other so you won’t have to struggle with your values and get elements down quickly. The class will learn to simplify and mass in your paintings right at the start before the light changes. Natural laws of light, values, color in perspective, edges, creating emphasis and movement through the painting will be explored.
Portland and the surrounding areas offer the mountains, rivers, vineyards, farmhouses, and the city. Each day we will be painting at a different location, and each day they will guide you in your developing process of creating your own paintings through individual attention.
Both Susan & Gabor will show you the meaning to this statement: "Always in the forefront is the idea that the job of an artist is to first learn the craft, as knowledge is power with the end goal in mind that art is more than imitation."
Daily demonstrations are in oil and critiques given everyday by both.
The group will have dinner together one of the nights with a Q & A session.
We will paint from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m daily.
Transportation needed.
