Registration and Workshop Policies

Our workshop registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend registering early, as space in each class is limited. Many workshops fill quickly. Early registration helps ensure the workshop will go. Workshops without sufficient enrollment may be cancelled. Students will receive a refund only in the event that the Tucson Art Academy cancels their workshop.

Registration

A non-refundable deposit of $200 per workshop must be submitted at the time of registration. This deposit accompanied by your completed registration form will hold your place in the workshop. Registrations turned in without a signature and credit card number will not be valid until completed properly. After you register, a class confirmation will be mailed to you. The student’s credit card on file will be charged for the remaining balance 45 days from the workshop start date. This is non-refundable. All summer workshops for $350 each will be charged in full.

Waiting Lists

A waiting list is established as soon as a workshop fills. If a student cancels their registration, the next person on the waitlist will be notified of the opening. Please check our website, www.tucsonartacademy.com to see which classes are filled. No deposit is required to be on the waiting list, but once a student is notified of an opening, they must pay for the workshop in full, or they will lose their place on the waitlist.

Transfers

Your non-refundable deposit of $200 per workshop can be transferred to another workshop in the same year if notification of cancellation is received 45 days prior to the start date of the workshop. Registrant will be charged a $50 transfer fee to change workshops. No transfers are allowed less than 45 days prior to the start date of the workshop.

Cancellations

All cancellations must be in writing. There are no exceptions. You may mail a letter or send an e-mail to cancel your spot in a workshop. For cancellations made 45 days or more prior to the start of the workshop, the Tucson Art Academy will retain the non-refundable deposit of $200. If notice of cancellation is received 45 days or less before the start of a workshop, full tuition is forfeited. These policies will be strictly enforced. Call the Tucson Art Academy prior to registering if you have any questions regarding cancellation policies.

Scholarship

In memory of Timothy R. Thies, a great artist and personal friend of ours, Tucson Art Academy has set up a scholarship fund in his honor. This scholarship has been funded by generous gifts given in Timothy's honor. All students are eligible to receive this scholarship by contacting us and filling out a application. If you are interested in giving a gift to this scholarship fund please send a check marked for Tim's Scholarship Fund to: Tucson Art Academy . PO Box 30941 . Tucson, Arizona 85751-0941

Skill Levels

The skill level descriptions are given as guidelines for the student’s use and it is the student’s responsibility to enroll in the appropriate workshop. These workshops are provided for adults. If you are under the age of 18, please contact the Tucson Art Academy.

Hotels

There are many fine hotels in Tucson to choose from. These are our personal suggestions if you are coming in town for a studio workshop or a plein-air workshop. For some more ideas look into the Metropolitan Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau website, http://www.visittucson.org or phone 520-624-1817.  You may also call the Tucson Art Academy and ask about others you may have found and are not sure of.  We would be glad to help.

Easels

Plein-Air workshops require students to bring their own travel easel. In studio workshops, students may use Tucson Art Academy easels and taborets or they may bring their own.

Art Supplies

Supply lists will be posted on our website along with the class description. If you do not have access to the Internet and a supply list needs to be mailed to you, please contact us. Please bring all supplies on your required list. Tucson Art Academy will have Gamsol odorless thinner for those students that will be flying in for their workshop.

Please Note

Tucson Art Academy is not responsible for reimbursements of tuition should students fail to attend class. Tucson Art Academy is not responsible for providing make-ups, issuing refunds, credits or transfers for sessions missed as a result of illness, emergencies or other events beyond our control, however extenuating circumstances will be evaluated on an individual basis.
